Getting started with WAOU: the assistant, the password, the settings

When you visit a house you have just bought, you start with the living room, not the electricity meter. Same principle here.

You are not going to read a user manual. You are going to see what your website contains, in the order you will need it. Six pages, and the tour is done.

Nothing is locked, nothing costs extra. Everything that follows is already in your WAOU, the day you install it.

"I won't know how." That is the sentence that makes people give up, and it is the only real question. The assistant answers it: it takes you in a straight line to a finished website.

• First the menu, complete. Your sections and your pages: the plan of your website, the one that decides everything else.

• Then, page after page: the backgrounds, the texts, the photos, the layout. For each page you see the mock-up on computer and on phone, with its real background, before saying "Create my page".

• At the end of each page, a screen tells you it is done and published, and a single button takes you to the next one. In the menu, finished pages are ticked.

• Shortcuts: the same background as the previous page, or for the whole section, in one click.

You stop whenever you like; the next day, you pick up where you left off. And as soon as you feel comfortable, you open the full editor: nobody holds you back, it is your website.

Every WAOU website is public: your visitors come in freely. The editor, the room where you change your pages, is locked by a password. Only you go in, and you change it whenever you like.

Your private files have their own lock: the Safe closes with a code, separate from the editor password.

The dashboard gathers what applies to the whole website: its title, its little icon in the browser tab, its languages, and the way Google and artificial-intelligence engines present it.

• Search engine optimisation, page by page: each page has its own title and description for Google, in each language.

• The visit counter: it tells you how many people came, and to which pages. It counts neither robots nor yourself.

• If you insist, Google Analytics plugs in by pasting your ID.
